Patron Library Card Policy
Library cards for patrons over 18 years of age may be obtained by filling out a user agreement in person at the library. Two proofs of current residence (utility bills are preferred) are needed plus a picture ID (Driver's License preferred). Student cards can be issued to children who are school age(6 yrs and up). A parent or guardian must be present to sign for anyone under 18 years of age. Parents must provide their driver's license picture and proof of current residence and a picture of the child. If the parent does not have a current picture, one will be taken for identification purposes. Children
under kindergarten age may use their parent’s card to check out books. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times while in the library.
Patron Computer Use Policy
The Breckenridge Library contains eight public access computers and two card catalog computers. To use the library computers, patrons must provide a valid and current picture ID (driver's license or state Identification card are preferred). Patrons may use the computers for a maximum of two hours per day. Online classwork time may be negotiated. Patrons may not insert any media into the library's computers. Wireless laptop users must follow the same procedures as all other computer users by providing valid identification before passwords and logins can be provided. Printing in black and white costs 25 cents per page.
Interlibrary Loan StatementThe Breckenridge Library will lend books and other materials in accordance with federal copyright law and the Library’s discretion. In order to insure that local Breckenridge Library users have access to the latest materials, the following items will NOT be available via interlibrary loan.
Books published within the last year
Items designated as “high demand”
Audio-Visual materials including video and/or sound recordings
Reference material
Genealogical material
Magazines and newspapers
Rare, archival, manuscript or fragile items
Microfilm, microfiche
Titles that are out of print
Non-fiction titles
McNaughton leased books
Western Titles
Large-print Titles
All materials lent via interlibrary loan will have a loan period of 14 days. These cannot be renewed. The Breckenridge Library will borrow materials via interlibrary loan only for registered library patrons in Good Standing. A maximum of 2 (TWO) interlibrary loan requests are allowed per library patron. Items or requests can be limited at the library’s discretion. The Breckenridge Library reserves the right to further limit the number of requests as circumstance dictates. No title will be requested a second time until the original request has been returned, fully completed and updated in the Breckenridge Interlibrary Loan Department. The Breckenridge Library will NOT request the following categories of materials:
Best-sellers or books published within the last year.
Books priced over $30.00
Audio-Visual materials (video recordings and/or sound recordings)
Microforms (film or fiche)
Non-fiction titles
Rare or Reference materials
The Breckenridge Library never charges a fee for interlibrary loan requests. The library does require that a small postage fee be paid if a patron accepts the requested book upon arrival. If the lending library charges a fee, this will be passed on to the borrower. No request will be made before the borrower has the opportunity to accept or decline paying any appropriate charges. The Library reserves the right to refuse the ILL service to any patron who does not follow policy.
